Solar wind: U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo and U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Cleveland, both Democrats, on Friday called for a crackdown on unfair trade practices by Chinese solar product makers following the Commerce Department’s determination that manufacturers in China have been trying to bypass U.S. duties by doing minor processing in other countries before shipping goods to the United States. “We cannot allow America’s solar industry, and the thousands of workers at Ohio’s hometown companies like First Solar and Toledo Solar, to continue being attacked,” said a statement from Kaptur.
Fluid funding: Case Western University won a $224,905 National Science Foundation grant to help it develop new ways to measure fluid movement, Brown announced Friday. “Scientific research is critical for creating jobs and improving our economy,” said a statement from Brown. “We unleash more American innovation when we nurture all Ohio talent.”
